Sometimes it can seem confusing & complicated to change your diet. Who do you believe? There is so much information out there and much of it is conflicting!? I started by following Nutritionists whose work resonated for me and adding in just one healthy food at a time.
Concentrate on eating whole foods & eating healthy rather than ‘dieting’. Many diets can leave your body feeling starved and when your body is starved your biochemical programming is to STORE FAT! Yes ~ you read that right! Your body thinks you are in a ‘famine’ and will do everything to help you survive. Remember your subconscious mind controls your metabolism and digestion and hormones etc and it just wants to keep you ALIVE & SAFE!
The diet industry is big business and it is based on getting repeat business! All those companies are looking to see THEIR figures grow every year ~ their sales figures that is! But maybe their clients figures as well!!
If you are eating a diet that is high in processed food your tummy may be full but your body may be nutritionally starved. So allow your body to have plenty of wholesome nutrients, healthy fats are important for a healthy mind.
Listen to your body and work out what is is best for you. YOU know your body better than anyone else. Personally I aim for meals that include protein, healthy fats (avocado, nuts, butter etc) and lots of fresh vegetables. So long as I have lots of fresh produce & small quantity of good quality meat, eggs, plus my pantry staples [like olive oil, coconut oil, nuts and seeds etc] then that is what works for me. I also like the 80:20 Principle ~ I am definitely not ‘perfect’ but so long as I am eating whole food at least 80% of the time then I am pretty happy with that.
I do not choose to classify my eating style as Raw, Vegan or Paleo or Vegetarian or Gluten free or any other style. Though I do enjoy foods from all those eating styles. I will continue to choose whole foods that nourish my body, my mind and my spirit.
See my links page for some fabulous whole food chefs’ websites that I enjoy. There is so much great information out there that you can readily access.
There are important considerations to make if you have a medical condition and / or you are trying to lose weight. Please seek the advice of a respected professional in this area. I must emphasise that I have no formal qualifications in Nutrition. However I am passionate about nutrition and I love preparing & eating healthy food! Enjoy!
